See you in the festhallen!
Mayor, City of Kitchener
On behalf of Council and the citizens of the City of Waterloo, it is truly a pleasure to extend a warm “Willkommen” to everyone attending Kitchener-Waterloo’s Oktoberfest, running October 11-19, 2013.
Culture is the heartbeat of our community. When people gather to enjoy the fun and excitement of a high caliber event our city is truly at its best. Waterloo is steeped in tradition, and no other festival brings out our heritage roots like Oktoberfest. This celebration of German food, music and festivities is truly "Wunderbar" and I am proud to live in a city that celebrates the history that formed the foundation for our success today.
Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest is the largest Bavarian festival in North America, drawing crowds from near and far. We hope that you will take some time during this nine-day fete to explore all that Waterloo has to offer. From world-class recreational facilities and inviting parks and trails, to excellent library services, wonderful galleries and museums - Waterloo boasts a vibrant cultural lifestyle our residents and visitors have grown to love.
So welcome to Waterloo and thank you for spending time with us. I know you'll have an incredible time experiencing the spirit of "Gemuetlichkeit" and will leave the festival with many wonderful stories to share.
Mayor, City of Waterloo
