Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest and the Thanksgiving Day Parade have gone wireless. For the first time in the 41 year history of the Festival, the 150,000 spectators at the Thanksgiving Day Parade will be able to text in their votes for the newly created People’s Choice Float Award.
Spectators simply text the code on the sides of each of the floats to 71212 to cast their vote for the interactive award, and they can vote as many times as they want! The voter will receive a return text message with a coupon code to receive $5.00 off at Hans Haus Online, the festival’s newly launched online souvenir store. Voters will also be entered into a draw for a Blackberry Bold, to be drawn after the festival. A $0.50 charge applies.
