Save The Polka! On June 3rd, 2009 the Recording Academy announced that the Grammy Awards had eliminated the BEST POLKA ALBUM category.
At Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest we strongly believe that polka is a genre of music with a rich history and an important place in the current musical landscape. We feel that Polka Music and its artists deserve a place at the Grammy Awards!

Kitchener Willkommen Platz The heart of Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest! It's a 'Bavarian Villiage" in downtown Kitchener with FREE live entertainment on the Children's Stage, sponsored by Westjet. Check out the displays and activities, excellent food and beverages, information, souvenirs and a Bier Garten. Fun for the whole family. The Platz is open daily through the festival.

Opening Ceremonies: Kitchener - Waterloo The fanfare of trumpeters will be sounding from the rooftops on Friday, October 8th beginning at 11:15 am, announcing the Official Opening of the 42nd annual Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest, North America’s largest Bavarian Festival. Since 1969, the Festival has grown from a weekend event in one Festhalle, to a nine day, internationally famous Festival that attracts over 700,000 participants.

Onkel Hans Food Drive Parade Day - Thanksgiving Monday Share in the spirit of Thanksgiving by helping the community with the Onkel Hans Food Drive that will take place along the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade. Please bring your non-perishable food items to the Parade and volunteers will gladly pick them up along the parade route.

Onkel Hans Lottery The Onkel Hans Lottery was established in 1983 as a fundraising initiative for both K-W Oktoberfest Inc.'s activities and operations and for the operations of local community groups. It has also acted as a way of promoting the Festival in and outside the community.
