Miss Oktoberfest is a favourite among the thousands of school children she comes in contact with during the festival through the Schools Program and family events. Making over 125 appearances each year including the Thanksgiving Day Parade, she is an ambassador extending this area's unique German heritage, while increasing national and international interest in our community. |
Up until 2003, the Miss Oktoberfest pageant had been an elaborate showcase with contestants chosen from all over North America. Because of her popularity and requests for appearance throughout the year, the selection of Miss Oktoberfest took on a new direction allowing more opportunity for young women of the Region of Waterloo to become more involved with the Festival. The recipient of the Miss Oktoberfest title is announced at the Miss Oktoberfest Gala Ball.
