Opening Ceremonies: Kitchener - Waterloo
The fanfare of trumpeters will be sounding from the rooftops on Friday, October 8th beginning at 11:15 am, announcing the Official Opening of the 42nd annual Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest, North America’s largest Bavarian Festival. Since 1969, the Festival has grown from a weekend event in one Festhalle, to a nine day, internationally famous Festival that attracts over 700,000 participants.

Oktoberfest Lotto Express
The Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Lotto Express rolled into Kitchener-Waterloo, bringing with it the largest ever cash prize since its inception in 1983. This year the GRAND PRIZE includes a trip for four to any WestJet destination and $10,000 cash. The Lottery is a fundraising initiative for both K-W Oktoberfest Inc.'s activities and operations and for the operations of local community groups. It has also acted as a way of promoting the Festival in and outside the community.As in previous years, the Oktoberfest Lotto Express provides an opportunity for not-for-profit organizations and service groups across the region to raise funds for their programs by selling tickets. The Oktoberfest Lotto Express has been used to raise funds by groups like the Waterloo Regional Block Parents, the Optimist Club of Kitchener-West, and K-W Civitan Club.
