Greetings from the
Region of Waterloo

Dear Friends,

Waterloo Region is a bustling and vibrant community which from time to time loves to relax and enjoy itself.

Oktoberfest is one of those occasions and on behalf of all of the members of Regional Council, I would like to welcome you to our annual Oktoberfest celebrations. There is much for everyone and whether you are a visitor or one of our own residents, I'm sure there will be some aspect of Oktoberfest which will appeal to you. Thanks for joining us and have a wonderful Oktoberfest.

Prost!

Ken Seiling
Regional Chair

Welcome from the City of Kitchener!

Preparations for Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest have already begun! In fact the spirit of gemeutlichkeit is alive in our region year round. On behalf of members of city council and the citizens of the City of Kitchener, you are all invited to participate in Oktoberfest and experience the outstanding hospitality for which our community has become so well known.

Our rich Germanic heritage combined with our increasingly diverse population have resulted in an exceptional assortment of cultural influences. Our residents express their friendliness and good fellowship by volunteering throughout the year and participating in the plans for the annual Oktoberfest celebrations.

It is thanks to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers and sponsors that Oktoberfest is so successful each year. Thank you all for generously contributing your time and talent to this annual cultural event. You help to show your fellow residents and the thousands of visitors who attend Oktoberfest, just how special our community truly is.

Everyone is invited to join in the Oktoberfest experience October 8-16, 2010. See you in October!

Sincerely,
Carl Zehr

Mayor, City of Kitchener

A Warm Willkommen from the Council and
Citizens of Waterloo!

On behalf of Council and the citizens of the City of Waterloo, it is truly a pleasure to extend a warm “Willkommen” to everyone attending Kitchener-Waterloo’s Oktoberfest, October 8-16, 2010.

Oktoberfest is a celebration of German food, music and festivities that is truly “Wunderbar”. The over 40 family and cultural events would not be possible without the efforts of our many volunteers. I would like to thank you for all of your hard work. Efforts like yours make our community a truly wonderful place in which to live, work and play.

Welcome to Waterloo; Intelligent Community of the Year! While you are here, I hope you will have a moment to check out the many interesting shops and restaurants in our Uptown area, or to enjoy a visit to the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, the Perimeter Institute, or the Centre for International Governance Innovation. If time permits, you may enjoy exploring RIM Park in the northeast corner of the City. With 18 outdoor sports fields, a multi-purpose recreation building, trails, parkland, a golf course and displays marking our heritage, RIM Park provides something for everybody in our community.

Welcome, and thank you for visiting. I wish each of you a wonderful time in Waterloo and I hope that you get to experience the spirit of “Gemuetlichkeit” and have a safe Oktoberfest.

Sincerely,

Brenda Halloran
Mayor
